Dr. Tania graduated from McGill University dental school in 1987. After completion of her military commitment she opened her first practice with two partners in 1990. Within 5 years she outgrew that practice and moved to her present location into her solo practice and private building. Dr. Kovaluk started her education of orthodontics in 1995 and has positive, effective results using the ALF (Advanced Light Wire Functional Appliance). She treats 99% of her orthodontic patients without extractions in an average treatment time of 18-22 months. Dr. Kovaluk always had a passion for all aspects of dentistry. She loves the artistic expression side of it and lives for making her patients feel great about their beautiful smiles.

"It is my mission, desire and professional responsibility to offer the highest level of treatment possible to all my patients. This is why I am on an endless pursuit of excellence. The initial exam in our dental office is very complete and holistic in nature. We find out about the whole patient rather than just their teeth. We take digital extra-oral pictures as well as intra-oral pictures. This allows the patient to see how their teeth appear from all angles and close-ups. On picture files, I record the before look of the tooth, the work done and the after finished product. The patient has the opportunity to understand what is going on during their dental treatment. Our patients can also see what their teeth may look like at the end of a cosmetic treatment with our Instant Smile Dental Templates."

Meet Our Staff

Dr. Huda joined our office as a full-time Associate in September 2007. She earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), with honors, from the Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2000, followed by a residency program at Dammam Central Hospital in Saudi Arabia. She then earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Alberta in 2005.

Huda was also honored on October 2006 by the Canadian Islamic Congress at a formal dinner at the Parliament for her contribution to Canada's wellbeing. Upon graduation, Dr. Huda worked in Sioux Lookout, Ontario for two years. She provided much needed dental service within the Sioux Lookout Dental Clinic, the O.R. program in the community hospital and to some 25 isolated First Nation communities.

In addition to this, she was dedicated and very keen on providing the students of Pelican Falls High School (a boarding school) with comprehensive dental care before they went back home to their northern communities, an effort that required her presence at the school full-time one week each month. Huda obtained hospital privileges at the Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout treating pediatric and senior patients under general anesthesia.

Huda's experience up north proved to her first hand how one bad dental experience can traumatize a child for life. Therefore, children's experiences in her dental chair are of the utmost importance to her. Her passion for dentistry is enhanced by her gentle and professional chair side manner which puts her patients at ease.

Huda practices dentistry with integrity and knowledge and is committed to provide the highest quality of dental care to her patients while remaining sensitive to their fears and concerns. Most of Huda's patients in the past two years have been by word of mouth and referral by her committed patients (Thank you). Huda is currently a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the Ontario Dental Association, the Ottawa Dental Society, and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.

Huda says: "I could not have reached this far in my career without the support and generosity of my wonderful father (he always told me growing up: “If you want money for books take as much as you want"), love and wisdom of my caring mother, and recently unconditional love and support of my loving husband. When not practicing dentistry you will find me cuddling with my baby girl Jenna. If I haven't met you already, I hope I get the chance to do so soon."

Cindy is a bilingual Registered Dental Hygienist. She has been working with Dr. Kovaluk as a Dental Assistant since July of 2006 and succesfully completed her Dental Hygiene course at Algonquin College in April of 2009. She loves her career in hygiene and is pursuing further education in orthodontics to get more involved in patient treatment.

Dannik has been a Receptionist at the Kovaluk Dental Centre since August of 2007 and loves working alongside her sister Joelle on Dr. Kovaluk's team. Dannik recently graduated as a Dental Assistant and has been happy to put her skills to work. In her spare time, Dannik enjoys singing in choir and spending time with friends and family.

Fariba has been a Dental Assistant for 16 years. She has worked with general dentists, periodontists, endodontists, and has now worked as Dr. Kovaluk's assistant since May of 2007. Fariba is planning to retire at the same time as Dr. Kovaluk, and in her spare time loves jogging, walking, travel, and enjoying nature.

Joelle is a is a Dental Assistant/Receptionist and Office Coordinator. She has been working with Dr. Kovaluk for over 12 years and enjoys working alongside our orthodontic hygienist Lise.

Josee is a Registered Dental Hygienist and Treatment Coordinator who graduated in 1995 and has been working with Dr. Kovaluk for 12 years. She has attended numerous seminars and continuing education courses to offer her patients only the best and most educated care they deserve. She enjoys spending quality with her husband and two young children.

Lise has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for over 18 years. She joined Dr. Kovaluk's team in 2000 and develops her skills by taking continuing education courses in orthodontics and TMJ dysfunction. Lise really enjoys the work she does for her patients and always wants to learn more to provide the best quality of treatment possible.

Stéphanie is a bilingual Registered Dental Hygienist and has been on the Kovaluk team since March of 2006. A graduate from La Cité Collégiale, she strives to educate her patients by providing them with the best possible care and her gentle nature puts nervous patients at ease. Stéphanie is happily married and enjoys outdoor activities such as camping.
